About

A project about magic, beliefs and creating your own reality.

Without knowing what the Golden Goat was, or any idea where it might be, I set out on my mission. Clues provided by chance, random encounters and moments of synchronicity were followed.

At first a figment of my imagination, an idea, a pretty silly one at that, the more I thought about the idea of the Golden Goat, the more goats that appeared. I started seeing goats everywhere, people would tell me childhood stories of goats, suggest people I should go and meet or places I should go. Everyone, it seemed, had a story to tell or a lead for me to follow. Bizarrely, they also really wanted me to find the Golden Goat.

What was happening here? Can you make something real and magical just by saying it is? Is it possible to force that kind of significance? Manifest meaning to the point of a random imagined object becoming almost sacred? When this started I didn’t even like goats. And yet here I was travelling the country looking for something I knew (or at least thought) didn’t really exist. The lines between what is real and what is imagined became blurred, bringing into question concepts of reality.

I soon realised the quest was also about much more than goats. The people I met, the stories I heard, the adventures I went on. There was magic happening and the goats were showing me the way.

Have you seen a goat? Get in touch, tell me your story or send me on a goaty adventure.

Read the blog to follow the adventures the goats have taken me on, the people I’ve met and the things that happen along the way.

I’ve Seen a Goat is a Studio Mayfly project.
